We now offer bighorn sheep hunting in our Grizzly Basin area.
Since purchasing this area in 2005, we have been spending time learning where the bighorn move in and out of various basins, and are now comfortable in offering this hunt. Also, the local bighorn population has been doing very well due to some mild winters, and their numbers are very strong. There are two challenges to hunting Bighorn in our area. First, game regulations state that only full-curl rams can be taken – and sometimes it can take some time to find one that meets this criterion. Second, some of the bighorn sheep move in and out of our hunting area during the hunt (they tend to cross back and forth over one of the mountain ranges), so it can take patience for the right opportunity.
We have structured our hunts in 2 ways to accommodate these challenges. We offer this hunt in combination with elk, black bear, whitetail and mule deer. The basin we hunt has excellent hunting for all of these species and is especially renown for early season mule deer hunting. One of our recent bighorn hunters had opportunities at all of these animals while pursuing his bighorn. We put a large percentage of the hunting package price as a kill fee on the bighorn.
You must be in top physical condition to pursue bighorn as this hunt often entails a good deal of climbing.
